Are you also ready to let busy be busy and take a mindful moment for yourself and your family to reflect on the past year? If you’re not sure what questions to ask at the end of the year, keep reading. You’re in the right spot.

But first of all…

Why reflect at the end of the year?

As a coach and Mama who experiences the power of mindful reflection and celebration, I’d always encourage you to incorporate some form of reflection for as much as it makes sense to you.

Some people really benefit from mindfully practicing gratitude, reflecting and journaling  - even just for 2 minutes a day. For others it might be more casual for special occasions like birthdays, milestones, or end of year celebrations.

Reflecting helps us:

  • feel more grounded and present,

  • see how far we’ve come,

  • clarify what we’ve learned and we can celebrate.

Answering reflection questions together with someone else, also has the power to connect us more with each other and with ourselves.

It builds the basis for living more mindfully going forward and with setting intentions and goals for the future.

Reflection activities for you and your family

There are a number of ways you can use reflection prompts for you and your family depending on what resonates and the age of your children. Here are some reflection activities and ideas:

  • Write the questions on post-it notes or cards, then draw some as prompts to each share over dinner - one question per evening or all in one go.

  • Each reflect on their own by journaling

  • Get creative while you’re all together during the Holidays and use the question as a basis for a vision board with everyone contributing answers to some or all of the prompts

  • Go through the photos on your phone for the year and match them up to the year end reflection questions

Be curious, include deeper questions if any come up for you, embrace the experience as a way to learn more about yourself, and practice self-kindness.
